I spontaneously spent the weekend at Home after witnessing an overabundance of drunkenness, and the time spent was quiet and interesting. We had real family meals and good conversations. My mother's still all about Jesus, so it's hard to talk about something without a Christianism coming up:
God is in control.
One day at a time.
By the grace of God, >insert independent clause here<

God God God God God. Isn't he grande? I gave up on Jesus when he couldn't support me financially. I think Christianity is the foggiest, vaguest set of rules out there, and they've been misinterpreted for centuries. I have no doubt that Jesus was around, but I'm pretty sure everyone just regarded him as "that crazy burnout who thinks he's God," like Crazy Tom from the coffee shop who told me I would marry a prince when I went to South Africa.

I don't like O.A.R. very often. I'm not a "jam band" hippie, believe it or not.

"But Carly! You dance just like a hippie (badly)!"

"And I thought you like Dave Matthews and all that shit!"

Yeah, but O.A.R. is too... bland for me. I don't know. They've got a few good songs, but they're not enough for me. But that's not the point. The point is, I've been listening to them just now because iTunes gave them to me. iTunes is very intuitive and generous when she offers random albums, so I accepted Soul's Aflame graciously (although with quiet skepticism), and continued knitting my awesome hippie dread sack (that should be done by the time my shoulder-length hair is long enough for dreads).

The album had a lot of singles, but the other, lesser known songs are pretty tame. It's nice enough, but I think iTunes (as well as O.A.R.) could do better. I've been listening to random albums rather than random songs, to create a more comprehensive opinion of the band. But JESUS, Soul's Aflame is just not enough. The simplistic and plain album art mirrors the music within. I want iTunes to offer me more. I want Who's Next, for example, which hasn't been around in weeks. Nor has Axis: Bold as Love. But, iTunes is in control.

Over the weekend, I ended up spending $100 in two days, which is absolutely ridiculous. That was supposed to last quite a while, so I guess it's nicotine headaches and chocolate milk dreams for the remainder of the week.

Over the course of writing this evening, Axis: Bold As Love come on. It's probably my favorite album. Thank you, iTunes, you have redeemed yourself.

Second week of school!
The three day weekend? Fun.
The four day week? Lonnnng.
