bu bu = piggies
03.07.08 I have grown to really enjoy my insomnia. I don't make much use of the time, but I do have a lot of fun.
Tonight I spent the bulk of my time knitting a filthy hippie dread sack that I found while procrastinating. The one you'll see there is much better than mine, as I've never worked with circular or double pointed needles before, but I'm still really proud to see my self-taught knitting skills are improving. I don't actually own the required set of double pointed needles, so I tried to improvise. First with wet sticks that fell when the ice-glazed trees bent and cracked under the weight of being completely frozen. Then I cut a wire hanger apart, sending little metal bits into the air and nearly crushing my finger. I tried the wire hanger first, and when the raw metal thrashed and nearly ruined my project I frantically salvaged it back onto the circulars. I was afraid to try the half-assedly whittled (read: tore at with an Exact-o knife) sticks. I suppose with a little sanding (read: buffed with an extra nail file) they'd be effective, but I really should just wait and go to the Craft Store and get some damned dirty DPNs.
After rescuing my hat, I happened upon a friend who is studying abroad in Japan. He's a cool cat, and he plays Michael Jackson drinking games.
Mr. Japan: "nya nya"
Carly: ... What?
MJ: That's "meow" in Japanese
MJ: "Wan wan" is "bark bark"
MJ: "Geddo geddo" is "ribbit ribbit"
We're going to take a film class next semester. I expect only greatness. He's also the one who can take credit for inspiring me to do a future study abroad trip to Amsterdam (coming Fall 2009). And also this truly terrible music video.
Now I have to take a French Cinema exam, work at the Print Shop, and go home. Spring Break is next week, and I plan on sleeping a hell of a lot less. Effects shall be documented carefully for your reading pleasure.
So I didn't sleep...
